Diana & Leah Hogan welcome you to Kopera Rhodesian Ridgebacks website.
We are a mother & daughter team providing well tempered, athletic, champion
Ridgebacks. We are located in south western Ontario, 25 minutes south of
London.
We currently have 6 dogs living with us,Vancie, Olive, Ella, Jimmie, Mickey &
Daisy. And we have 3 co-owned dogs, Jack, Deniro and Ceilidh..
We breed for a purpose. Our purpose is to produce healthy, well structured dogs,
with excellent temperaments, and of course family companions. We attend
structure, and health seminars to continue our learning, and to benefit the breed.
Parents have their championships and are tested to be clear of hips and elbow
dysplasia, & thyroid.
We are members of the Canadian Kennel Club, the Rhodesian Ridgeback
Club of Canada, and the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Eastern Canada.
We are home to 34 champions as of November 2011. And also home to many
Agility, Obedience and other performance titled dogs.
In 1991 my husband, Darren and I started researching a breed that would best fit
our environment. We wanted a short coated, large breed that wasn't over popular.
When Darren and I met our first Ridgeback and he gave us a big toothy smile we
knew that was the breed for us. We purchase our foundation, Abbey in 1993.
I (Diana) all was wanted to be apart of the purebred dog fancy, since I was a young
girl and my father took me to my first dog show. My father was on the police force
and as well as the canine unit in London, Ontario and also while we lived in
England. I grew up with working police dogs, and the occasional stray that made its
way to our home, dogs have been a part of my life and will all was be.
I (Leah) grew up in the show dog world. I started showing in juniors when we first
started in ridgebacks. As a pre-teen I was more interested in riding horses. But I
started showing again as a junior handler when I was 15 years old. I had some great
wins in juniors, and in the breed ring. My wins were with my own dog Olive, and
also with other breeds. I am excited to be spending my life with my dogs and my
horse!
